About the author:

Dr. Avi Patil is an India-born American author of ThemeVille Math. He obtained his undergraduate and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune and the University of Mumbai respectively. He immigrated to the United States in 1996 and completed his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Auburn University, Alabama in 2000. While advancing through multiple levels of college education, he experienced firsthand many different styles of spiral/cumulative learning as he re-visited the same subjects year after year. During his career, he has done hands-on work on product development in diverse industries. He loves teaching, and has a wide range of experience from teaching engineering to sixty-year-old professionals, to tutoring math to six-year-old children. His interests also include: epistemology, literature and Disney history.
